The Okinawan ocean, home to one of the largest colonies of coral reef in the world, offers numerous world-class diving spots. You can find varied points in many parts of the island from a beach entry class which can be readily enjoyed to a boat entry class which can be readily enjoyed to a boat entry class for advanced learners.
An allure of fishing in Okinawa is, after all, big-game fishing. Fisherman watch from a boat for tuna, marlin and dorado coming on the Kuroshio current. A strike and the strength of a tug on the line are impressive.

Major Diving Spots
Okinawa Main IslandSunabe Point: Popular among divers from beginners to professionals, Sunabe Point is accessible from Sunabe Beach. Night diving is also possible here. Onnna Point: Thus is a hidden diving spot located between Caoe Manza Beach. Onna Point is also known as Toilet Seat Point due to the shape of the coast. Maeda Point: Divers at all levels can enjoy this spot throughout the year. Entry to the point is possible via the steep stairs at Cape Maeda. Seragaki Point: Seragaki Point is known as a great snorkeling spot and it accessible through a fee-based campground that is a good location for family camping.
Kerama Islands"Kerama" is so famous as a worldwide diving spot that all divers know the name. It is ranked high in all the elements as a diving point such as diversity in kinds of sea creatures, clarity of water and field full of variety. There are diving shops on the islands of Tokashiki, Zamami and Aka. Many diving shops on the Okinawa main island visit those islands from Naha boats.
Miyako IslandsMost of the Miyako Islands are formed by protuberant caral reef rocks.Due to lack of rivers, earth and sand do not flow into the ocean from land, and the stretches of snow-white beaches and crystal clear blue ocean apread out. A popular diving spot is the west coast of Shimoji Island. Many points are dotted on a complicated landform. 'Yabiji', located in the offshore of northern part of Miyako Island, is the largest coral reef in Japan and the biggest highlight.
Yaeyama IslandsEach Island of the Yaeyama archipelago has a marked individuality. Diving points are alsofull of variety. In Ishigaki Island, groups of worldwide precious table coral inhabit Shiraho seaside, and manta rays can be seen in Ishigaki. So many mantas rays can be seen in Ishigaki. So many mantas gather in Yonara Channel between Iriomote Island and Kohama Island that people call the area "Manta Way". In Yonaguni Island, popular points are a site of mysterious ruins and a point where hammerhead sharks can be observed. |
