The oldest castle in Okinawa, said to have been built by the legendary creator, Amamikiyo
The legendary creator of the Ryukyus, Amamikiyo, is said to have built Tamagusuku Castle, with his descendant Tenson being the lord of the place. The legend says that during the 13th and 14th centuries, the Tamagusuku Lord repaired and expanded the castle. From the Ryukyuan dynasty to nowadays, the place is visited as a sacred grove. Waking up a straight slope, a natural circle shape stone marks the entrance of the castle and offers marvelous scenery.
