Maeda Point (Maedamisaki)
print

This cape is a diving and fishing Mecca
The upthrusting of Ryukyu limestone under the coral reef plate has produced a steep shoreline here. The reef runs parallel to the shore. This is a favorite dive spot. You will see lots of fish here beginning with batfish. The underwater topography changes very fast. There is an almost vertical dropoff to great depth right offshore. However, beach entry is possible, so the spot is good for anyone from beginner to advanced diver. The sunsets over Maeda Point are truly mystical.
