Follow the path to the basin below the falls and you'll enjoy a 1.5 kilometer one-way walk through the forest.

The northern region of Okinawa Island is called Yanbaru. The lush forests here are home to a wide variety of native plants and animals, some of them in danger of extinction. The Hiji Falls is about halfway down Hiji River, which flows through the Yanbaru forests. Hiji Falls is Okinawa’s largest waterfall. The trail up to the base pool is about 1.5 kilometers one way and offers a delightful forest walk. The area around the falls is thick with some 380 species of rare plants of scientific significance. The animal life includes rare birds, turtles, shrimps, crabs and gobi.
