Zuisen Shuzou Distillery
print

An old distillery that continued producing Awamori through the centuries at the side of Shurijo Castle
The distillery was named after Zuisen, the clear spring that wells up near the Zuisenmon of Shurijo Castle. During the times of the Ryukyu dynasty, the villages of Akata, Sakiyama and Torihori were permitted to produce Awamori. Created 117 years ago, Zuisen keep transmitting the Awamori tradition, proud of having one of the largest Kusu (aged Awamori) storage capacity in Okinawa. The distillery also receives attention for the liquor "Usaki", which is produced using the miraculously found Kuro-koji mold from before the war.
