print

The town that inherited the history and techniques of Ryukyu Kasuri, the roots of Japanese Kasuri
The hall holds advertisement activities and sales for the popularization of Ryukyu Kasuri. After being inherited during the times of trade by the royal government of the Ryukyus, unique versions of the Kasuri fit for Okinawa's climate were made in each region while receiving influences from China, Japan and Southeast Asia. This refined Kasuri became the roots of Kasuri in Japan. Today, most Ryukyu Kasuri are made in Okinawa and there is a road in Haebaru Town where you can visit workshops and view the manufacturing process.
