“See, taste and enjoy”Awamori and its culture

The Higa distillery was established in 1883 in the old town of Shuri, now operating out of Itoman City in the south of Okinawa Island. The Masahiro Awamori Gallery is built on the first floor of the distillery, where visitors can sample and buy various kinds of Awamori and see video footage of its production. On the second floor is the Awamori History Gallery, where visitors will be treated to various Awamori tools, liquor bottles from more than 500 years ago, pre and post-war photos of the distillery, rare and precious documents, and a wide-ranging Awamori collection.
