Shurijo Castle Park
In 1429, King Sho Hashi unified Okinawa, and Shurijo Castle became the palace of the Ryukyu Kingdom and has played an important role in politics and culture. With influences of Chinese and Japanese architectures, the castle boasts the magnificent Ryukyuan style. At the south hall of the castle, arts and crafts from back then were exhibited to give visitors a glimpse of the history of Okinawa.

Naha City Traditional Arts and Crafts Center
Naha Traditional Craft Center offers five hands-on workshops of Okinawan traditional arts and crafts such as Ryukyu Bingata, Shuri-ori Textile, Ryukyuan Lacquerware , Ryukyu Glass, and Tsuboya Pottery. You can purchase fine traditional crafts at a shop and can see some of the best historical crafts at the Craft Center.

Naha Municipal Tsuboya Pottery Museum
The museum showcases variety kinds of pottery from the past and the present; visitors can learn about the history and the crafting process of it. Moreover, it exhibits potteries from other Asian countries for understanding of the cultural relationship between Okinawa and those countries.

On the 17th century, the authority of the Ryukyu Kingdom decided to gather potters from all over Okinawa in Tsuboya district. Since then, Tsuboya has been flourishing as a town of Yachimun (which means “pottery” in English). Paved with Ryukyu limestone, Yachimun Street is the main street of Tsuboya. There you can find many pottery stores and craft studios on each of the street. The town holds old traditional appearance and is a good place for leisurely stroll.

Urashima Dinner Theater
Enjoy marvelous cuisines while seeing authentic Ryukyuan traditional dance.
