In 1429, King Sho Hashi unified Okinawa, and Shurijo Castle became the palace of the Ryukyu Kingdom and has played an important role in politics and culture. With influences of Chinese and Japanese architectures, the castle boasts the magnificent Ryukyuan style. At the south hall of the castle, arts and crafts from back then were exhibited to give visitors a glimpse of the history of Okinawa.

Okinawa World is a theme park where visitors can enjoy culture, history, and nature of Okinawa. At Kingdom Village, old houses of the Ryukyu Kingdom era are lively restored and you can learn traditional arts and crafts by taking hands-on workshops. Along with cultural and historical attractions, Okinawa World boasts a five-kilometer cave, Gyokusendo; 890 meters of which are open to the public. The theme park also has a museum park featuring Habu, a native poisonous snake of Okinawa.
