Experiences Only in Okinawa

There are a wide variety of marine activities to be experienced in Okinawa such as diving, sea kayaking, and whale watching in the ocean with its richly-colored coral reefs. Okinawa also has a great selection of programs for enjoying nature. For example, explore a mangrove jungle in a canoe or trek through the mountains with untouched nature. You can also learn about the history and culture of Okinawa by strolling around the historical sites and traditional houses and experience agriculture and traditional craftwork while communicating with the locals.

Characteristic Experience Spot

Okinawa has excellent sites for marine activities. The Kerama Islands surrounded by the ocean boasts water with world class clarity and Miyako Island, home of Japan’s largest coral reef systems, are just a few examples. If you are interested in seeing a mysterious world created by rare animals and plants, we recommend Iriomote Island and Onna Village. Iriomote Island is called the "last unexplored region of Japan" while close observation of various types of marine animals is possible in Onna Village. Okinawa also has areas for learning about the history and culture of Okinawa. You have many options including touring ancient roads and historical sites or learning about agriculture and traditional craftwork in three villages in Yanbaru.
