The 35th Ginowan Hagoromo Festival
August, 2012 Traditional Ryukyu King Satto's Parade, Dance "Kachasii" all night at Ginowan City's Summer Festival.
Held for the 35th time, Ginowan will once again shake the city with the famous "Kachasii" contest(The 23rd Hagoromo Kachashi Contest), the major draw of the city's summer festival. "Kachasii" is the Okinawan dance to express joy, often seen at weddings or parties with Okinawan "sanshin" music. The basic is so simple that anyone can dance! All you have to do is put your arms up high and turn your palms in and out. Despite the simplicity of the dance, you will be amazed by how it can be so elegant and alive, danced by experts.
The summer festival will also present the elaborate "traditional Ryukyu King Satto's Parade", local live bands, and fireworks.
